Octopoda/Homo 1, Phase 1
Phase 1 is made up of various attempts — physical and psychological — to bridge the gap between our surface-centric world and that of our submerged, ocean-dwelling sisters. Here are various experiments to help me experience the world more like a cephalopod.
In future phases the human and cephalopod meet. I will work with living octopuses to explore the cephalopod in human environments, and the human/cephalopod connection directly.
Cephalopoda/Homo 1 - Phase 1 is part of a larger, exploratory project referred to as Overcoming Ineffability of Cephalopods in 3 nodes (OIOCx3). It is made up of three separate but related projects that are connected through interdisciplinary collaboration and shared curiosity. Collaborators/authors of other nodes include: Stephen M. Fiore, Dominic Sivitilli, and Timothy Weaver.
